The Costa Brava is the coast of Girona. It starts in Sa Palomera (Blanes) and finish in the French border, concretely in the town of Portbou. Its length is 200 km. Bounded on the north with the red cost of Roussillon, it’s smaller than its geographical opposed, the south and of the Maresme coast. It’s composed of three coaster regions: the Selva, the Baix Empordà and the Alt Empordà. Due to its geomorphologies, most of the landscape areas of origin, are not affected by the urban development and the speculation because the terrains are very rugged and difficult the construction. On the other hand, the high rises and hotels with a massive functionalist architecture “Uninspiring” with style of 60’s and 70’s of last century (and even older) stole much of the charm of the beaches and plains areas that many artists captured in their works.
Roses - Costa Brava
Roses it’s a village located in the Alt Empordà. Its surface takes the south half of the peninsula of Cap de Creus. Its centre is located in the village that has its own name and located in the bay of Roses and in the north of the Gulf of Roses. It’s a touristic village with residential areas, hotels and other installations as two harbours (pleasure harbour and fishing harbour) and an attractive relief located on the north of the Costa Brava. Weather, often affected by wind, has a calming effect on the ocean. The village of Roses has a long beach of fine sandy in front of it (between the fishing harbour and the canal Riu Gran). More to the east, you can find more beaches like Canyelles, Almadrava (o Canyelles gran), Murtra Rustella, Montjoi, Pelosa and Jóncols. Need to be mentioned Punta Falconera, Cap Norfeu, the integral reserve of natural park of Cap de Creus because the tourism it’s the main source of income of the economy of Roses even the primary sector is also present (limited and decreasing) in the agriculture (olive groves and vineyards). Fishing it’s also very important because Roses has the most important fishing port of the northern coast of Catalonia.

Empuriabrava depends of the municipality of Castelló d’Empúries, that it’s the link of the town. However, due to the big population, actually there is a project for the creation of a new political party, transversal, to promote the interests of Empuriabrava and treat specific requests.
